When is the best time to visit Halifax Harbor?
One of the great things about Central Florida is that the weather is pretty great all year round. So, either plan for your favorite weather or organize your trip to experience one of the harbors events.
The next exciting occasion is the Daytona Beach Christmas Boat Parade and it takes place on December 1st. It is free to attend and the fun begins at 6 p.m until 9 p.m. There are many events taking place throughout the year in Daytona Beach, an events calendar can be viewed here.
Halifax Harbor Park & Marina Activities
When you first arrive visit the marina office and pick up a brochure, which includes a map of the docks and includes interesting information and sites to visit.
Fishing Pier
Walk along the public pier for a beautiful walk that leads to the fishing area. Chat with the local fisherman and see what they catch. If you are lucky you will have an opportunity to witness a fish being cleaned and gutted at the free fish cleaning station. This is truly a unique sight to see!
If you wish to get involved in the fishing action you may need a fishing license. For more information click here or ask at the marina office.
Relax and Enjoy the View
The Halifax Marina is a peaceful place with plenty of seating. Take a few minutes or hours and admire the many boats and yachts that come into the harbor and leave for their sea adventure. Each one is different but they are all spectacular, especially the larger yachts. It is also a great place to have a picnic and get lost in a book on a sunny afternoon.
A great time of day to visit is during the sunset because the view that overlooks the Halifax River and the Atlantic Ocean is memorable. To find the sunset time click here.
